The Council met at 2-30.

On the motion of Sir Patrick Buckley, a select Committee was te-. up to confer with a committee from the Lower House in considering ihe relations between the Bank of New Zealand and tbe Estates Company.

The Family Uomeß Protection Bill, and the Mining Companys Act Amendment Bill parsed their final stages. The Threshing Maohine Owners Lien Bill ani the Counties Act Amendment Bill were read a second time.

The second reading of ths Coal Miners Act Amendment Bill (which had passed the Lower House under charge of Mr Millar) was negatived by 20 to 9, and the Bill was thrown out.
