Charles Seymour Alien has recovered £1,000 damages agaiost Darnel Lebere Willis, SB proprietor and publisher of the paper • Troth, 1 for libel contained in an article published in that journal. It appea-o , thai Mr Allen married a daughter of MrPerkin, Member of the Legislative Council, Queensland, and Bhortly aferwarda visited England, The article in • Truth* alleged that aaEnglish swell had married a Brisbane sooiety lady and had stolen har jewels, and deserted her. The article in question did not mention any names, but the remarks were generally recognised by Allen's friends as referring to him, though the charge was bsseli s«.-
