BUEGESS ROLL.

A Special meeting of the City Council was held yesterday afternoon to certify and paes the Burgers 8011. Ihere were present: — Cra Baddow, Baigent, Akersten. Fipe*, Aekew, and Look, and the Mayor in the chair. j The Town Clerk eaid there were no objeotions, but E. J. Cook. M. P. Smith, and Esther A. Hudson bad applied to have their ! names placed on the roll. On the motion of Or Piper, the three names were placed on the roll. Cr Piper said be noticed several tames on the defau tra' list which apparently were not on at count of property owned by the ratepayers named. Cr Baddow considered that the rates of all propei ties ought to be paid as they beame dv". Vt Akersten asked if a ratepayer paid part of his rates did his name go on the Burgess rol!. The Town Cleik eaid part payment of rates won.d net quhli'y a ratepayer to go on the roll, he mast psy a fall ra'e on one property. A fully-paid rate entitled a person 10 be put on the list of voters, even though he wss a defaulter for rates on othrr properties. Cr Akersten considered tbe 1; w was decidedly wrocg, and should be altered.
