PRESENTATION TO MR JAMES

BARTON SADD.

At the Boyß' Central Sohool on the llth of April, the prizes won at the recent swimming races were presented to the successful competitors by Mr J. B. Sadd, after which the headmaster, Mr F. G. Gibbß, M.A., asked Mr Sadd's acoeptanoe of a handsome marble clook, as a small token of tbe very great esteem and affeotion entertained towards him by the pupilß and teachers of the school. Mr Gibbs referred in eulogistio terms to the long and successful oareer of the reoipient, who for 37 yearß bad taught in tbe State sohools in the Nelson district.

Mr Worley, wbo had been a fellow-worker witb Mr Sadd at Bridge Street Sohool for a number of years, also testified to the exoellent work dons by that gentleman, and said that he owed moon to Mr Sadd for bis kindly help and guidance to bim when aoting as assistant to Mr Sadd at Bridge street.

Mr Sadd feelingly expressed hiß thankß, and assured those present that he still took the keenest interest in sohool work, and would at all times bs ready and willing to render them any assistance as far as he was able to do so.

Three hearty ringing oheers from tbe boys for Mr Sadd brought the proceedings to a olose.
