HEROIC DEED.

A terrible accident occurred ia the air chamber on a seotion of the Hobson'a Bay main Eewage works last nigbt. Six then were working in tbe oh amber, when auddenly the water burst in, Mr Wat-on an engineer, was about to enter the chamber, when a m an named Burke, who waa inside, pushed him biok, and shut the door in his fao*. Looking tbrough the glass in the door Watson caw the water rising. Burkes aotion waa that of a hero, Apparently be saw that there was no chat cc for himself or the others in the chamber, and he cosed tbe door in order to save the lives of those in the tunnel. The names of those drowned are, Buchanan, civil engineer, Burke, foreman of tbe shift, Johnston, Gabriel, J-tckson and Foster. None of the bodies have ytt beeu recovered
