Mr Pinkerton oombatted the statements of many members that the Government proposals were borrowing, and said he was sur* prised at the change in the tnne of those mambers what had snpooited the recent Banking legislation, bat who now said tua Government bad ione wrong in goatanteeiug two millions to the Bank of New Zealand. The cheap mouey eetume, if properly arlmioistered, would be very beneficial, hut tha Banks should be prohibited from manipulate ing the m ney. He objected to the views of tbe Government respecting local government, and took strocg objection to raising rateß on Grown Lands. Mr Lawfy moved tha adjournment of th« debate, wbioh was agreed to, and tbe Houae rose at 12.20 a.m.
