The Government ha 9 accepted Mr Kimber's amendment, reducing the Irish representation in the House of Commons to the same proportion as the British. Mr Redmond's amendment to continue the prf Bent quota for all purposes waa rejected by a majority of 14. Mr Labouchere and Beven Parnellites voted for it. Mr Henetge's amendment in favor of the to'al exclusion of the Irish from Westminster waa rejeoted by 31. There was a scene of considerable confusion during the disousaionof the rarious amendments, and the Premier ultimately told the House to vote as it pleased on Mr Bedmond's proposal. Mr Chamberlain declared that the Bill was a fraud from beginning to end, and its limitations were merely introduced to hoodwink the constituencies. He cited Mr Gladstone's s'atement that the retention of Irish members waa a question that Great Britain ought to decide, but the Premier refused to reply. The debate was ultimately c'oaured.
