PRESIDENT OF FRANCE.
LONDON, July 11. In the House of Commons this afternoon, Mr W. H. Smith, First Lord of the Treasury, in reply to a question asked by an hon member, said that it was unusual to invite a sovereign to visit that country, but at the same time he assured the House that if Preßidant Carnot of France paid a visit to England, he would be accorded a most cordial welcome,
