COLLINGWOOD COUNTY COUNCIL.

A meeting of the Collingwood County Council was held at Takaka on June 10th, when all the members were present. Tbe minutes were read and confirmed. . Letter was received from Council's solicitor re Slaughter-house licenses.

The Clerk was instructed to reply stating tbat the Council ia of opinion that there ia no necessity for further action being taken in the matter at present.

Letter was received from J. Cole, re the Anatoki pack track, and asking for a fresh track to be made.

Proposed by Cr Page, seoonded by Cr Cook —That Mr Cole bojinforraed tbat the Council cannot accede to his request.—Carried.

Letter was received from the .miners on the Anatoki diggings asking that some iiaprovemeuts may be made to the rough and daugerous places up to Anatoki.

Cr Cook proposed, and Cr Page seconded— That tbis Council vote £80 for the extension of the Anatoki track, provided that the Government will grant £ .for £, and that a reply bs sent stating that the Council has taken steps in the matter.—Carried.

Memo waß received from tbe Commissioner ef Crewn lands asking if tho Counoil kaaw of any objection to an occupation license on section 120, Ferry Reserve, being granted to Mr Clear.

The Clerk was requested to reply stating that the Counoil sees no objection to the license being granted.

A letter was reoeived from the Mines Department requesting the Counoil to take over the portion of the Biwaka-Takaka road which is within the Collingwood County. Cr M'Parlane propose J, and Cr West seoonded, that tho road be taken over by the Council. Ayis: Crs M'Farlane, West, Reilly Sorimgeour, Page, and the Chairman. Noes : Or Cook.

A letter waa read from W. Williams re the ferry trom Collingwood to Fezry Point. Proposed by Cr Reilly, seconded by Cr Sorimgeour, that this Council authorises the Collingwood Road Board to abolish the ferry from Collingwood to Ferry Point, and the Council recommends that Mr Williams be allowed to keep on ths ferry to the end of the year.—Carried. [Nate.—The resident! of Pakawau petitioned tho Collingwood Road Board to discontinue the ferry.]

A circular was received from the Hutt County Council suggesting certain amendments in " The Licensing Act, 1881," with regard to the formation of Licensing Committee.

The proposed amendments were approved of, and the petition relating thereto was signed by all the Councillors.

A circular was reoeived from the Sydenham Borough Council re " Batepayers Mutual Insurance Bill," and re .nesting this Council's co-operation.

A cironlar was alio received from the Mining and Metallurgical Committee of the New Zealand Exhibition, Dunedin. Proposed by Cr Rilsy, and seconded by Cr Reilly, That the Collingwood and Takaka Rsad Boards be Committees iv their respective districts to obtain exhibits for the Exhibition, at a cost not exceeding £10 each Board.-Carried.

Copy of telegram front Minister of Public Works: "W. C.Riley, County Chairman, Collingwood,—With Mokihinui bridge, for which tenders are called, all local votes will be fully absorbed.—(Signed) G. F. Richardson." An account was presented by C. Lewis for plans of Burgoo track, &o. Resolved, That it be paid if tbe Aorere Works Committee find it correct.

Proposed by Cr West, seconded by Cr Cook, That the member for tbe district be requested to use his best endeavors in obtaining votes for the undermentioned workß, and when obtained that he insist that such votes be expended at once on such works as granted for, viz : Main rqad from Takaka to Collingwood, and continuation of road from the latter plaoe to Saramea; also, a sufficient sum to complete a cart road from Bates's to T. J. Baigent's on East Takaka road. Carried.

Proposed by Cr Reilly , seconded by Cr McFarlane, that a sufficient sum of money be applied for to be placed on the estimates, to erect a bridge over the Takaka River at the place known as Pain's Ford.—Carried. ' Tbe audited balance sheet for tbe past year wag adopted,
