Soaife. object of the Company is to -I- undertake the manufacture af boots, shoes, etc., in Nelson, and the strictly wholesale supply of the products of the Faotory to dealors in this and other districts. Tho plant belonging to Messrs H. and F. Moore, bootmakers, Bridge-street (valued at £290), has been secured for the low cum of £160. The plant ia a moat complete one, comprising, all the latest improvements in bootraaking machinery, and is of sufficient size to aflovd employment to about 50 hands. It is estimated that the Factory, with a staff of 25 hands, could, after the first three months, turn out 300 pairs of boots per ;veek, at an avorage profit of Is 6d per pair on all classes of boots, ranging from children's to the most expensive olass of men's. This statement is based upon a careful calculation of the cost of production of first-class goods, such as the Company purpose turning out. The Provisional Directors believe that, after the'first three* months, with an additional expenditure of £50, employment could be giron to 50 hands, and the output doubled. It is proposed to commence operations as soon after the formation of tho Company as po3aibi?. The Company's goo^a will find a ready sale is Nelson and surrounding districts, promises of regular and substantial orders having been received from oue of the largest buyers in the district, and upon the business becoming thoroughly established, trade with other dietriets will be pushed, so that the. Company's wares will, it is hoped, before long be in competition with, and found equal to, the goods manufactured by any boot factory iv New Zealand. In directing the attention of investors to the proposed Company, the Provisional Direo fcora would point out that the establishment of the Factory would be the means of afford ing employment to a large number of hands, and, besides yielding a handsome dividend to shsrebolders.will add another to" the list of local industries so desirable in a community like Nelson. Applications for shares will be received by Mr A. A.
