UPPER MOTUEKA HIGHWAY BOARD.

The usual meeting of the Board was held on Saturday, June 3. Present—Messrs Hodglunaon, Wilkinson, Burrows, and the Chairman. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Tenders were received for work in the Sherry -.—(Accepted), John Fawcett, £6 18s ; Arnold and Smith, £7 16s; Mr Boyd, £9' 9s; H. Pahl, £9 19s. Mr Hodgkinson reports having let the shingling of the Institute to Mr Thomas Griffith, for the sum of £5, wozk to be done to the satisfaction of the Overseer. . The Overseer reported that the work near Mr Druinmond's had' been, done to his satisfaction. It was resolved that payment bo. made as agreed on. ' " •"•' A letter was received from Mr Price, asking for a subsidy towards the cost of a bridge 'across the Baton. Eesolved, That the Board are of opinion that Mr Price has fair claim for a subsidy, and that the Committee at the Baton be recommeded to grant some assistance out of thß;fnrids: allotted to1 $hem, abouti£l4 of which^re at presentjin, tb!o hands of; the ■Board.
