AGRICULTURAL STATISTICS.

We have Been the agricultural statistics of the Nelson Province for the year ended February 1875, as compiled by Mr .Robert Pollock. They show, as compared with the previous year, a decrease in the quantities of wheat, oats, and barley produced, and an increase in potatoes, grasses, and other crops. It is satisfactory to know that there are 1218 acres of land under crops which were not so last year, and that the number of holdings baa increased by 122. The number of acres sown in wheat is 750 less, and as the estimated produce of them is 7350 bushels we are just that quantity on the wrong side. In oatp, too, there is an estimated decrease of 1211 bushels, the quantity of laud sown with that grain being 74j5 ajres less than last year. Barley, however, makes a much better show, as although 99 acres less were sown, there is an increase in the yield of 4266 bushels. Hay shows a decrease of 467 tons, but there is an increase in the quantity of land sown in permanent artificial grasses, of 6137 acres Potatoes Beem to have been exceedingly prosperous, for it is estimated that we shali We 1561 tons more than we had in 1873-4. We are sorry that the returns do not give Us any information regarding the yield of hops," but we understand that Mr Pollock iniendß taking steps to have some particul rs respecting them shown when it becomes ais duty to compile the statistics for 1875-6. At present they are included in the item "other crops,'? which shows an increase of 614 acres over the previous year, and we may hope that a fair proportion of this is composed of hops. We observe also that there are 5618 acres more land under crops in 1874-5 than Waß the case in 1873-4. On the whole the crops in this Province are in a very flourishing condition, and will bear favorable comparison with those of other Provinces.
