The Mysore had bulwarks on the starboard side and two boats carried away, mizenmast damaged, loss of anchor and 60 fathoms of chain; the Great Britain had hull damaged, jibboom and headgear carried away, and loss of anchor and 120 fathoms of chain.

Two lifeboats are now on their way to New Zealand. They are despatched by the National Lifeboat Association, and are said to be intended for Napier.
