FIRES IN NEW ZEALAND.

Shortly after 3 a.m. on September 11 a fire broke out in one of a closely built block of buildings situate between West Queen, Albert, and Wyndham-streets, and Mills-lane, Auckland. The house in which the fire started, and the one adjoining it, were consumed. A large fire occurred in Auckland on the 20th, which, consumed Quick's coach factory. The loss is estimated at £6000; the property was uninsured. 11 is supposed to have originated from damp hay causing spontaneous combui tion. Fire at Oheistchttrch. — Messrs. Jacobs and Isaacs' store, Christehurch, was burnt down on 26th September. The building belonged to Mr. William Wilson. It; was insured for £1000. Jacobs and Isaacs' stock was insured for £1000 ; £250 in London and Liverpool and Globe, and £750 in the New Zealand office. Cause of fire unknown. Fiee at Napier.—The other day, at Napier, a house belonging to Mr. J. M'Dougall was totally destroyed by fire, nothing whatever having beeu saved. Fiee on a Farm.—The whole of the outbuildings belonging .to Mr. G. Pram, farmer, at East Taieri, Otago, were destroyed by fire on a recent date. Ahorse was burned in a stable. The fire is supposed; to have originated from a spark from a steam engine.! Fire.—The Tokomairiro (Otago) flax mill wasj completely destroyed by fire on the 21st September. The fire was caused by a spark from the engine falling upon a bale of dry flax.
