THE COLONIST. NELSON, TUESDAY, DECEMBER 15, 1868.

Mr. SnspnA.itD has ab last resolved to meet the electors, and will do so this evening. Another candidate is now in tho field, Mr. iV. Edwards having been induced by means of a largely signed requisition to come forward. Mr. Edwards simply replies in the affirmative to the request of the electors ; and does not give any sketch of policy, deferring that until Friday, the nomination day. As there will now bo a contest, and the nomination day is close at hand, this delay is of less consequence than in the case of a single candidate. The polling day is fixed for Thursday week, thus allowing six days between it and the nomination day.
