THE WEST COAST.
A SLIGHT SKIRMISH. About, 6 o'clock on Monday morning, Nov. 30fch, Colonel Whittnore moved out from Woodall's redoubt with a strong force consisting of the Wanganui Volunteer Cavalry, the mounted Constabulary, and about 200 men on foot, to scour the country in and around Nukumaru. A few mounted Maoris on horsebuck were discovered and pursued to the edge of the bush, from whence a heavy fire was opened upon our cavalry which resulted in killing one of our men and three horses.
