THE COLONIST. NELSON, TUESDAY, AUGUST 29, 1865. DISSOLUTION OF NELSON PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.
We understand that the General Government has written to the Superintendent in reply to the petition of the Council for an early dissolution of that body; and also in reply to a recommendation of the Superintendent that the elections should take place as soon as possible after the JNew Electoral 801l comes into force, so as that ail persons recently placed on the roll should have the power of exercising the franchise at the coming election. This roll will be in force in October next, and the General Government have intimated that his Excellency will dissolve the Council and issue the election writs at dates such as will allow of the roll being in force when the elections occur. We may expect, therefore, that some time in October a general election of Members of the Nelson Provincial Council will take place.
