YE. BLACKMAST, 311 Secretary. [advertisement.] To the Editor of The Colonist. SIR,—! and a couple of friends went into the English Church yesterday, and after entering we stood looking about for a seat, as we were all strangers. No one offered to point out a seat, and after a moment's hesitation we went iuto an empty pew. We remained there it might be twenty minutes or half an hour, when a person came forward ancl told us to leave the pew, as it was let to other individuals. Two ladies then came in ancl we had to leave. The officer or churchwarden did not offer to find us another seat, and so fearing we might again trespass we left the church. I publish this as a warning to strangers; and at the same time I may be permitted to say that churchwardens generally point out to such persons a vacant seat they might occupy.
