Thk Lyttelton.—This useful steam vessel returned from Blenheim yesterday, having made the passage from the Wairau river mouth in about 1G hours. She went up the Opaw'a river to Blenheim with a full cargo, drawing four feet six inches water, and with the utmost facility was placed alongside the wharf at the town, and discharged. The Lyttelton is the first steamer that has succeeded in accomplishing this great desideratum of the Blenheim people, and has been enabled to load and discharge at the wharf without the slightest difficulty. She appears to have given every satisfaction, and the inhabitants there have exhibited their appreciation of her usefulness and capabilities l>y giving to her Captain and officers a dinner, presided over by the chief personage of the provinc-.', while her arrival at the port was hailed with great satisfaction by the assembled crowd. She brought on her return 79 bales wool for shipment per the Edward Thornhill, now loading for London, carrying 200 bales. She leaves again this day calling at Pieton on her downward trip, and in due course it may be calculated that she will make periodical runs to Motueka and Collingwood. Her owners, Messrs. Natli. Edwards and Co. intend Bhortly to make her cabin accommodation as comfortable as possible, and with that view have already put in hand the proposed alterations. Upon tho whole wo miy congratulate the inh bitants of Nelson and Marlborough in the fact ■that the Lyttelton is trading on the coast, ns it is quite clt-ar that the want of such a boat has lately been much felt by both provinces. ■ Services.—The passing visit of several ministers from southern provinces, en route for Auckland, gave an opportunity for inviting their assistance at ■ the Presbyterian Church, Wesleyan Chapel, etc., •on Sunday last. The Rev. A. B. Todd delivered a most impressive discourse at the first named in the morning, the Rev. James Duncan ofManawatu, officiating in the afternoon, and the Rev. W. Will} of Otago, in the evening. The Rev. D. Hogg, of Wanganui, attended at the morning service at the Wesleyan Chapel, the Rev. C. P. Barclay, of Napier in the evening. The Rev. D. Dolamore held an afternoon service at the Bethel, Havenroad.
