The Ni'W Zealand Hank Act, IHGI, and the' Bank o>' New Si.utli Wales Act, l86!,-ns finally passed by the Legislative Council and the House of Representatives, having heen presented to the Governor for the Royal Assent, his Excellency..has in,the nauie of her Majesty assented to the said bills.

Acts op Nelson Phovincial Council. The following have received the Governor's assent;—«

■1. An act to authorise a certain road in the district of Waimea East to be stopped up, and another to be made in Heu thereof. : 2. Nelson Gorse Hedges Act,lß6l. • 3. An act to amend the Nelson Board of Works fcebentura Act, 1859. . 4. The Thistle Act, 1861,

5. The Impounding Act, 1861

6. An act to provide for the protection of certain animals, birds, and fishes, imported into the province of Nelson.

7. An act to appropriate the Revenue of the Province of Nelson for the year ending the 31st day of March, 1862.

8. Cattle Branding Amendment Act, 1861.

9. An act to authorise the Superintendent to convey to her Majesty certain land granted for public purposes in the city of Nelson. 10. An act to amend an ordinance to increase-the number of members of the Provincial Council, and to alter the Electoral Districts of the Province of Nelson.

11. An act to authonse the Superintendent to guarantee certain interest upon the capital to be expended in constructing a Dry Dock or Patent Slip at the port of Nelson. Government Officers. In accordance with the precedent adopted in other colonies, all officers employed in the service of the General Government are expected to refrain from taking any part in elections for members of the General Assembly, beyond recording their voles, if they desire to do so. The power of appointing and removing Returning Officers, and also of appointing and establishing Polling Places for the election of the Superintendent or of the members of the Provincial Council is delegated to John Perry Robinson, Esq, the Superintendent of, the Province of Nelson, or whoever may be the Superintendent for the time being. .;';.- GOLD-FIELDS. All powers vested in the Governor by vivtua of the Gpld Fields Act, with a few exceptional clauses), are delegated to the Superintendent of the Province in which such Gold Fields exist. ..'"...
