When set in working order it creates a noise so similar to the workings of a screw steamer, that one magistrate o.£ an imaginative character complained of sensations not altogether dissimilar from sea sickness. When orders .were given to stop or restrain the ventilatory force a brief period of silence ensued, but shortly afterwards the machine having obtained its release from the check imposed upon it, again commenced its burr, and effectually drowned the voices of the witnesses. ;
