SYDNEY.—Jan. 15. From the Sydney Morning Herald. Wooi;.—ln consequence of the delay of the Emeu,. through running ashore in the' Red Sea, on her homeward passage, the Simla has brought the two- mails of the 16th October, and 16th November. The monetary panic in England has very materially influenced the operations in this staple, as during the first three sittings of the November sales, wool fell from 2d. to 3d. per lb. below the Jnly and August prices, under a pressure of 10 per cent, and upwards for .noney. This decline, however, is trifling, compared with that on almost every other commodity, and indicates a healthy demand" for this article. Notwithstanding this aspect our market must necessarily undergo a corresponding change. Sales cannot, therefore, be effected, except at a similar reduction for all descriptions. And even at these prices buyers do not appear anxious to complete purchases. Arrivals by the road have been but moderate; still there are large quantities in warehouse here, waiting further instructions from the owners. Greasy wools are in great disfavour., Sheepskins participate in the decline on wools and are Id. and 2d. per lb. worse than last reported, with a dull sale. Tallow.—A most extraordinary change has also come over this market, and prices may be written fully £10 per ton lower than those recently obtainable, and even with a limited supply. Hides have suffered 20 per cent, and upwards. Heavy complaints are made in London of the wretched quality and condition in which many arrive, and, in some instances, rendered almost unsaleable. Hat.—The supply has scarcely exceeded the requirements for local consumption, and prices have fluctuated but little during the week. Maize continues scarce, and the advance of last week is fully supported for all good samples. Wheat and Flour.—The elections have rather interfered with the ordinary business, still some good sales have been effected—but generally a trifle :UnJ^r quoted prices. .: t i , :■■-■-■■■ -■i '' • ,* Prices Current. . : WOOL.
