HANDICAPS FOR THE FINAL TWILIGHT MEETING OF 1949 The following are the handicaps for* the Te Awamutu Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club’s final twilight sports meeting of 1949 to be held on Wednesday evening. The club will then go into recess till the second week in January.. This week interest will be centred on the performances of Evan Gray and Bobby Findlater, 15-year-old pupils of the Awamutu College, in the clubs beys’ rooyds event, in which they will be giving up to 15yds start. Beth boys are the brightest running prospects seen in Te Awamutu, at their ag-e, for many years. Both boys cairy themselves in fine style and are ucing much drive in their running. It is interesting to note that Bobby Findlater won the men’s open 100yds event last week from a short limit in lOAsecs, while Evan Gray won the club boys’ 100yds in 10$ secs, sound performances for 15-year-olds. Findater cculcf well further improve if he made more effort to sneqd more time training on a regular schedule than he is at present doing. There will also be a cycling derby of 3 miles on a handicap basis, to be declared by M- Jim Robertson the cycling handicapper, while the athletic handicaps have been issued by Mr Towyn Jone. 4.
