Britain’s Tourist Traffic
o xuuiiDi iiauit The British Travel Association (the tourist division of the British Tourist i and Holdays Board) has estimated that the number of tourists from all parts of the world will be about 560,000, and the total earnings including fare payments on British ships and aircraft, will, be about £55,000,000, by (the end of this year, says a report from the association- London travel agents, (hotels, coach-itour operators and stones consider that this was “one of the busiest seasons ever.” One famous London store reported that overseas shoppers had spent £35,000 more up to the end of June, compared with the corresponding period in 1948. The number of inquiries dealt with by the association’s information centre between March and August was 21,481, compared with 11,172 for the same six months last year.
