TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE

A small yarding of sheep comprised mostly fat descriptions was penned at Messrs Dalgety and Co.’s stock sale on Thursday, the 15th December. Competition: was steady with firm values ruling. In the cattle section prime ox female beef was offered good numbers—competition was steady with values being comparable with recent quotations at central yards. On account of Mr C. B. Fullerton Smith a pen of 9 choice medweight P.A. bullocks realised to £23 10s, while lighter descriptions on account Messrs J. O. Bayly and W. S. Gennann ranged from £2l 10s to £22 17s 6d. A pen of prime heifer beef from Mr H. S. McWilliams sold at the figure of £l7 10s. i'at Jersey and boner cows were penned in med. numbers with prices remaining unchanged. There was a large yarding of both fat and store pigs for all classes of fats were firm while an even and satisfactory saie prevailed for stores.

HAMILTON STOCK SALE The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company limited report -that at the weekly stock sale held at Hamilton on Tuesday, there was a larger entry of fat sheep. At the commencement of the sale prices ware on a par to a shade easier than last week, and over the latter part, sales were harder to make. Fat ewes were slightly dearer compared with recent sales, while spring lambs showed an easing tendency. Another large yarding of ox beef was penned. The general trend over the whole sale was for values to be a little easier, more so for the heavier weights, while the light and medium pens were from slightly easier to firm. A medium entry of cow beef was not so freely sought, and values here were also a little lower. One pen only of heifers yarded sold at firm values. The largest yarding of fat pigs penned this season came forward. Baconers and porkers sold- on a par with recent quotations. The demand for store and weaner pigs was not as keen as at other sales, prices easing slightly.
