FUNCTION AT MAROKOPA BASKETBALL AND RUGBY BALL To wind up the football and basketball season a ball was held in Marokopa Hall, where players, supporters, and friends turned out in full force to make the evening an outstanding success. After a delicious home-made supper had been served, Mr J. F. Phillips, President of the Marokopa Football Club gave a resume of the activities of the past season, and handed to the captain of the senior team the Patel Cup, which his team had won. This is a new trophy in the Kawhia Rugby Union competition. Eulogistic reference was made to the outstanding assistance given at all the Club’s functions by Mrs Grice and Mr J. Bagge, who have at all times been only too willing to assist with the very necessary music, and presentations were made to both. A presentation was aso made to Mr and Mrs J. F. Phillips for their work on behalf of the Club. The basketball girls made presentations to M'rs S. Scott and M'iss B. Fordham for their work on behalf of the Basketball Club. Mir Jack Phillips, who played in only one game last season, definitely announced his retirement from playing, and to mark the occasion kicked his “ playing boots ” off the stage. ' Mr E. Fordham carried out the duties of master of ceremonies.
