WIN FOR TE AWAMUTU MEN GOOD PLAY AGAINST VISITING TEAM Following close on a defeat in their first match, the Te Awamutu Men’s Softball team benefitted by the experience they had gained to win their game against the visiting Hamilton team, the Comets, at Albert Park last Saturday. The team exhibited a good combination on its home ground, and good handling of the ball resulted in the majority of the opposing team being put out before making their bases. Although the Hamilton team hit some good outfield balls, fast recovery and long and accurate throwing prevented them from making more than two bases on one hit, and all of their players who made the home plate did so on sneaking plaf. Starting play shortly after noon, the seven innings of the men’s match were over before 2 p.m. The results of the whole seven innings, with Te Awamutu’s score first, were as follows:—3—o, o—.o, 3—o, 4—l, 7—o, o—l, o—6. Total 17—7. The results of the game between the Te Awamutu Girls’ team and the Hamilton Huskies were very encouraging. The Te Awamutu girls played a good game against a well experienced team and their final score was much better than that put up last week at Hamilton. The results of the seven innings with Te Awamutu’s score first, are as follows:—-0—2, o—o, I—o, 3—o, o—2, I—6, o—2- Total in Hamilton’s favour, 12—5. Two members of the Te Awamutu men’s team were selected to play in the Hamilton Association’s representative team in the Waikato Association matches next week-end, during which players will be selected to play in the Waikato Association team for the Dominion championships.
