PUKURU BRANCH MEETING The monthly meeting of the Pokuru branch of the Women’s Division of the Federated Farmers was held in the Pokuru Hall on Tuesday, August 23rJ. Mrs Boswell presided over a large attendance of members, and the meeting was opened with the Prayer and Creed of the Women’s Division. Three new members were enrolled and welcomed to the meeting. Mr W. S. Earwaker gave a very interesting resume of his trip through England and France and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all who were present. Two pleasing solos were sung by Mrs Ramsay. Mesdames Jefferies, Clements, A. Gray and J. Gray were hostesses for the afternoon tea.
The meeting was closed in the conventional manner by the singing of the Women’s Division Song. Winners of the various competitions which were held at the function were as follows:—Article made from wool, the prettiest, Mrs Rhy; and the best made, Mrs Boswell. Fruit, Mrs Berry. Flower, Mrs Henderson. S'hrub, Mrs Clements. Vegetable, Miss Ray.
