Seveial members of the Te Awamutu Junior Chamber of Commerce aided members of the Beautifying Society to till and sow the section shaped like a crescent between a section of the old road and the new on the first corner past Hodgson Motors going north on the Ohaupo Road. The area was laid in lawn and some shrubs and trees were also planted in an effort to beautify what was once an ugly sight on one cf the main approaches to the town.

Borough Council Meeting The Borough Council met on Monday night, when those present were the Mayor (Mr Spinley), Crs H. G. Babbage, M. H. Williams, F. D. Chunn, G. D. Shepherd, E. Hopping, G. Wallace, J. Russell. Town clerk (Mr J. W. Palmer) and the borough overseer (Mr R. H. Close), were also present. An. apology was received from Cr T. P. Quick, and leave of absence granted. The meeting lasted /or two hours.
