POSTAL BOXES
USE OF ALUMINIUM If tests now being carried out are satisfactory some ’ aluminium private postal boxes will shortly be installed in the Chief Post Office in Christchurch. It Was originally intended to add 180 steel boxes to those already in the lobby but manufacturers were unable to get sufficient steel for the purpose. A Post Office official estimated that at least 2500 new boxes would have to be installed throughout New Zealand to eliminate the present lists. To enable additions to be made to the existing facilities in Wellington some extensive rearrangement would be necessary.
