TE AWAMUTU BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute presided over by Mrs O’Brien was held in the Parish Hall on Friday, October 8. There was a fair attendance. The meeting J opened with the Aspirations. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, then followed the correspondence and business. Delegates were appointed to attend the bi- £ annual meeting in Hamilton. Final arrangements were made for the Flower show and Fair. Mrs Sedole of Hamilton very ably and artistically demonstrated cake decorating with plastic icing. At the Women’s Institute Drama Festival held in Hamilton recently the Te Awamutu Women’s Institute Drama Circle carried off the Ist prize for their section and received a silver cup and also the Silver Trophy for a W. I. which had not won a competition previously. Competitions: Cup (dripping pastry), Mrs Benson, Ist. Miscellaneous: Gift not costing more than 2s 6d, Mrs Benson Ist, Mrs Watson 2nd; large bloom, Mrs Benson Ist, Mrs Irvine 2nd; small bloom, Mrs Williams Ist, Mrs Menary 2nd; wandering shilling, Mrs Irvine.
