OBITUARY

MR WILLIAM: .PARKHOUSE The death occurred suddenly at Palmerston North on Monday of Mr William Parkhouse, tailor, aged sixtythree years, who was a frequent visitor to Kawhia, where he was well and favourably known. He was about to retire to live at Kawhia, a house being in course of construction for him. Mr Parkhouse is survived by a grownup family. Old-fashioned Cure Despite the marvellous progress of medical science, especially during the periods of the two great wars, many people still pin their faith on the good old-fashioned remedies, a fact of which ample proof could be obtained in Kawhia. “ Carry a potato and you will get rid of your rheumatic pains ” is a saying which quite a number of local residents are putting into nractice—ahd many will willingly testify to the efficacy of this oldtime remedy. Transport Licenses At a sitting of the No. 1 Transport Licensing Authority, Mr E. J. Phelan, at Te Kuiti, an application for a license to operate a contract passenger service in the Kawhia, Otorohanga and Waitomo Counties wias made by L. D. Dalziel.
