/ VISIT OF POKURU PLAYERS AN ENJOYABLE OUTING The weather again favoured the Kawhia Golf Club on Sunday last, when twenty Pokuru golfers visited the local links to play a return match. A grand day’s sport was enjoyed by all, and although Kawhia proved the winners of the day, some remarkable scores were recorded by some of the visitors.

In replying to the welcome extended them by the local President, Mr A. W:. Babbage, Mr Jim Karl, President of the Pokuru Club, expressed the opinion that the event was sure to be an annual one in the future. Results follow, Kawhia players being mentioned first:— Ladies: Mrs L. Meredith beat Mrs Harris 2 up, Mrs A. Randall beat Mrs Krein 3 up, Mrs W. Lentfer beat Miss B. Candy 10 up, Mrs J. Thorn beat Mrs Onion 8 up, Mrs E. M. Scott and Miss Clements all square, Mrs M. Clark beat Mrs Fraser 2 up. Men: A. Babbage beat F. Thomas 2 up,. B. Daysh beat J. Karl 4 up, B. Pursur beat G. Candy 5 up, L. Meredith beat J. Higgie 4 up, N. Lentfer beat D. Earwaker 3 up, L. Ward beat D. Fraser 4 up, W. Lentfer and R. Harris all square, C. Davies and T. Hopping all square, E. Montieth lost to D. McLsay 2 down, B. Davies lost to H. Clarke 1 down, K. Peat lost to W>. Knight 3 down, T. O’Connor Jost to T. Harker 1 down, T. Humphries beat A. Randall 9 up, J. Thorn lost lopt to VR. O’Connor 11 down.

To make the teams even, W. O’Con. nor and A. Randall played for Pokuru.

Final result: Kawhia, 12 games; Pokuru, 5 games; tied, 3 games.
