Miss T. J. Ryan, of Auckland, who is visiting Te Awamutu to assist with the mannequin parades, is staying at the Commercial Hotel.

Constable A. N. Findlater, who has been a member of the Te Awamutu Police Force for the past seven years, has received notice of his transfer io Blenheim, South Island. Mr Findlater expects to leave Te Awamutu in the very near future. The name of his successor has not yet been announced.

Mrs R. Benson, of Remuera, is a guest of her sister, Mrs W). Douglas, Jackson Street. Another guest is M.iss M'ary Douglas, of Hobart, Tasmania, and sister of ]]J.r Douglas. Miss Douglas came by air from Hobart to Auckland, and was delighted with the comfortable and speedy mode of travel. She will spend some time in New Zealand before returning to her home. Until her arrival in Te Awamutu Miss Douglas had not seen her brother for twenty-seven years.

Two old Waikato residents, Mr and Mrs John Layne, of Hamilton, celebrated their golden wedding during the week-end at the residence of their daughter, Mrs R. U. McMinn, Palmerston Street. Mr and Mrs Layne (the latter Miss Mary Simpson, of Tairua), were married at Cambridge 50 years ago, and since then have continuously lived in the Waikato, principally in the Morrinsville and Te Awamutu districts, until Mr Layne’s retirement about eight years ago when they went to reside in Hamilton. There are two daughters, two sons, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
