HAMILTON STOCK SALE The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited reports as follows on the firm’s usual weekly stock sale held at the Frankton yards yesterday:—i Sheep: There was an average yarding of fat wethers; at the start of the sale prices showed an increase on last week’s rates, but as the sale progressed prices eased to last week’s reduced rates. A full entry of ewes made slightly firmer values, as also did a small supply of spring lambs. Extra prime wethers made 47s to 495, prime 45s to 465, medium 43s to 445, light 39s to 425, heavy fat woolly ewes 38s 6d to 40s 3d, heavy fat shorn ewes 29s to 30s 3d, medium 25s to 27s 6d, light 22s to 245, spring lambs 39s 6d to 44s 3d. Cattle: Ox beef was-yarded in large supply, and although there was a steady demand values receded by 30s a head and some pens were passed in. Cow and heifer beef was in good supply, and the market remained steadier in this section/ which in some cases showed only a slight easing in values. Prices for a medium entry of light-weight veal remained firm. Heavy prime bullocks sold from £2O 10s to £22 10s, medium £l9 to £2O, lighter £l7 to £lB 10s, heavy prime cows and heifers £l5 to £l6, medium £l3 to £l4 10s, light £lO 10s to £l2 10s, vealers £1 10s to £5 15s. Pigs: The largest entry of pigs so far this season came forward; baconers and porkers sold on a par with recent quotations while stores and weaners changed hands at slightly reduced rates. Heavy choppers made £6 5s to £8 10s others £3 10s to £5 15s, heavy baconers £6 5s to £6 9s, medium £5 18s to £6 3s, light £5 10s to £5 16s_. porkers and butter-milk pigs £4 10s to £5 ss, large stores £3 15s to £4 7s, smaller £3 5s to £3 12s, slips £2 12s to £3 3s, weaners £1 10s to £2 Bs, sows in farrow £5 to £8 12s 6d. CAMBRIDGE STOCK SALE A good penning of mostly fat sheep came forward at Messrs Dalgety and Company’s Cambridge sale on Monday, and sold well up to late-rate quotations. A very heavy yarding of all classes of cattle met steady competition, and values remained very steady. Dairy cattle were in large supply, and quality sorts maintained full late quotations. An exceptionally heavy offering of fat and store pigs realised full schedule rates, and. despite the large number of stores a steady demand kept prices in favour of vendors. Quotations:— Sheep: Good fat woolly hoggets 45s to 49s 6d., good fat shorn hoggets 38s 3d to 40s, hoggets (forward condition) 36s to 375, fat shorn ewes 26s lOd to 27s 6d. Dairies: Best springing Jersey heifers £l6 to £lB, medium £lO 10s to £l5, small and more backward sorts £lO 5s to £l3, best calved Jersey heifers £l4 to £l5, other calved Jersey heifers £ll 10s to £l3 10s, best calved cows £l6 10s to £lB.
