Modern Town in the Making
Now well under way, what will be a modern township is growing rapidly at Kaingaroa, in the centre of th'jf i large Kaingaroa Plains State forest* of 260,000 acres; the ocality is between Rotorua and Taupo. Already thirty of the planned one hundred dwellings are nearing completion, and the scheme is the most ambitious in regard to housing yet instituted by the Forest Service. Kaingaroa is situated on a plain about 1800 feet above sea level, and each house is being fitted to meet the intense winter weather experienced in that locality.
