Headmaster’s Report: Mr Rigby reported as follows for the month ending 13th September:— The second term ended with a roll number of 699. During this week 32 pupils have been admitted and 5 left. The roll at present is 726. Miss Edmonds left at the end of the term to take up a permanent position at Orini. Owing to a shortage of relieving teachers the Board asked if one could be found locally. Mrs E. Short, Te Mawhai, kindly consented to fill the relieving position on the staff. The Board has informed me that Mr Morley is now released from military duties but will be attending a refresher course at the Teachers’ Training College till the end of the term. He will begin duty at the beginning of the new year. Nurse Taylor informs me that children will receive their second injection against diphtheria on Tuesday, 17th September, at 9.45 a.m. Parents who wish their children of pre-school age to receive an injection are asked to be present at the school at the above time. The caretakers, Mr and Mrs Findlater, had everything in good order for the school opening. All the floors received a coating of dust-e-lac with the exception of the new building. Something should be done in regard to the floors of this building to overcome the dust nuisance. The lawns have been kept in good order but the caretaker will be pleased when the motor mower is put in working order. The area is too big for a hand-mower alone. I have arranged for the Children’s Fancy Dress Ball to be held in November. Visiting . Committee: Messrs E. J. Menary and D. Edgecumbe were appointed to the visiting committee.
