ROTC-O-RANGI FARM
BASIC VALUE FIXED Reserved decision was given by the Land Sales Court on Wednesday in the appeal against the Hamilton Land iSales Committee respecting a property at Roto-o-rangi owned by the Ridgway Estate (Mr A. L. Tompkins) and purchased by F. Smith (Mr R. McCaw). The court approved the committee’s value of £12,682, and allowed an extra £467 for labour and management which had not been allowed by the committee. The basic value was therefore fixed at £13,149, plus £569 for goods and chattels, making an aggregate of £13,718. The court also declared the property suitable for acquisition by the Crown under the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, under Section 51, and the court made an order accordingly. Mr Justice Ongley said his colleagues had personally inspected the property after hearing the evidence and submissions, and the court desired to record its appreciation of the helpful evidence of Mr T. H. Williams, who had been called by the appellant.
