KING COUNTRY SCHOOLS
TRANSFER TO TARANAKI NEGOTIATIONS PROCEEDING It is likely that the Taranaki Education Board will in the near future make formal application for transfer of all schools in the Waitomo county south of Otorohanga and in Taumarunui county to as far south as Taumarunui. Negotiations to this end were already under way, stated a letter received from the board by the Taumarunui District High, School Committee. The letter adddd that the Auckland Education Board had agreed to hand over the schools concerned.
The committees of all the schools have been notified of the change desired by the Taranaki • board and those agreeable are to notify the Auckland board by next Wednesday. Foilowing this a representative from each board will visit school committees opposed to the transfer in order to try and persuade them to agree. The Taumarunui High School Committee agreed to the transfer of the school to the Taranaki district.
