GUIDANCE OF YOUTH
SCOUTHRS’ WORK PRAISED “Nobody knows better than I do, travelling* around the country and addressing meetings of parents, how disregardless some parents are for the welfare of their children,” said the Dominion Chief Scout, Mr Christie, addressing a conference of scouters at Palmerston North- “ There is hope ‘for the children of New Zealand wherever the Scout movement may be. I thank you people for giving up your long weekend in order to prepare yourselves better to serve the youth of New Zealand.” Mr Christie urged the need to keep in the forefront the spirit of Christianity. Scouting could not succeed if it was not based on religious principles. “We have a great work to do, a wonderful opportunity, and a great responsibility. The Scout movement, if pushed as far as it will go by the right leaders, will revolutionise the whole youth system in this country. We can bring out efficiency and faithfulness as no other movement can.”
