YARD AND CLEARING SALES MORRINSVILLE STOCK SALE The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited reports as follows on the firm’s stock sale held at Morrinsville on Friday:— iSheep; The yarding of fat sheep comprised mostly fat lambs, for which there was good competition at prices on a par with late rates. -A small number of store lambs made increased rates. Fat wethers sold to 375, fat ewes 22s fid to 25s 6d, heavy fat lambs 29s to 31s 9d, medium 26s to 27s 6d, light 22s to 24s 6d, good black-face store lambs 16s, medium white-face store lambs 15s 2d. Cattle: A smaller entry of fat cows sold at firm values, and a full supply of boner and store cows also realised full recent rates. There was a good entry of heifer calves but a number were lacking in size and quality, and for these the demand was weak, good heifers being more in demand. Dairies: A full yarding of dairy cattle included the advertised herd; competition was steady for good-quality cows, but buyers were discriminating, and values for medium and backward cattle were easier. Fat Shorthorn cows made £9 to £lO 17s 6d, light fat Jersey cows and heifers and boner cows £4 10s to £6 10s, store cows £3 to £4, potter bulls £4 to £6 10s, 18-month empty heifers £3 to £3 17s, good Jersey heifer calves £5 Is to £5 11s, medium £4 3s to £4 10s, smaller calves £2 18s to £3 7s 6d. Dairies: Extra choice heifers £l5 ss, choice heifers (early calvers) £l3 15s to £l4 10s, medium £lO 10s to £ll 10s, calved heifers £lO 10s to £ll ss, good-quality young cows (early calvers) £l2 to £l3, medium £lO 10s to £ll 10s, later calvers £6 to £9. Pigs: A light yarding of all classes was penned; baconers and porkers remained firm at recent late rates; breeding sows and store pigs were in very keen demand, prices realised being in advance of those ruling last week. Choppers sold from £1 10s to £6 15s, prime heavy baconers £5 12s to £5 15s, heavy £5 2s to £5 10s, medium £4 14s to £5, light £4 6s to £4 12s, heavy porkers £3 14s to £4 2s, medium £3 5s to £3 10s, light £2 8s to £3, unfinished £1 16s to £2 4s, stores £1 10s to £1 17s 6d, slips £1 to £1 7s 6d, weaners 10s to £1 2s 6d, sows in farrow £4 10s to £9 ss, sows with litters £9 to £l4.

SUCCESSFUL CLEARING SALE Newton King Ltd. report holding a most successful clearing sale on account of Mr A. V. Lancaster, Cambridge. on Thursday last. The herd showed the care taken by Mr Lancaster in building up his herd to a high standard by the use of only good bulls and breeding for type and quality. The herd was in good condition, and buyers took advantage of the opportunity to secure well-bred dairy cows. Twelve of the cows realised £2O and over, with a top price for grade cows of £24, and the herd realised the high average of £l7 10s, which is (the highest 'average ob-i tained for the series of clearing sales during the present season. A twoyear pedigree Jersey bull, with good butter-fat backing, bred by the vendor, brought 40 guineas. DUNEDIN RABBITSKIN SALE The Otago Farmers’ Co-operative Association of New Zealand (Ltd.), Dunedin, reports that a medium-sized catalogue of rabbitskins was submit ted at its sale last week. There was a full bench of buyers, and competition was keen for all grades; and, taking into account "the 20 per cent levy, which operated as from this auction, prices were par to 16d per lb firmer as compared with the firm’s previous sale, held on 21st May. Following is the range of prices: Small to 59d, third broken to 82id, second broken to 121 d, first broken to 137 d, milky to 84d, summers 90j>d to 94d, dawny autumns to 139 d, early autumns to 142 d, late autumns 149 d to 160 d, fourth spotty bucks to 132 d, fourth spotty does to 13Gd, third spotty bucks to 140 d, third spotty does to 136 d, second spotty bucks to 149 d, second spotty does to 149 d, first spotty bucks to 157 d, first spotty does to 152 d, spotty autumns tip 126 d, spotty incomings to 136 d, incomings 136 d to 158 d, third blacks to 128 d, second blacks to 136 d, first blacks to 160 d, second fawns to 157 d, first fawns to 170 d; hareskins 141 d to 160 d; hair to 35d. RABBITSKIN SALE Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd. report: At the auctions held on sth June, we submitted a catalogue of 21 tons to a large attendance of buyers. There was a fairly good demand for all grades, and values as compared with late rates can be generally quoted as follows: —Low grades par to 3d dearer, autumns and incomings 3d to 6d dearer and early winters 6d to 15d dearer. The small parcels of winter bucks and does on offer sold exceptionally well, the former to 209 d per lb and the later to 196 d per lb. The factory sorts again met a good demand and sold at a considerable advance on last quotations. The levy operated from this sale, and buyers adjusted their prices accordingly.
