PINEDALE STUD SALE Keen competition was shown for all high-class entries at the complete dispersal sale of the Pinedale Milking Shorthorn Stud, the property of Mr G- D. Hall, at Kio Kio last week, the sale being held in conjunction with Mr K. G. Hall’s annual sale. The auctioneers for Mr G. D. Hall were the F.A.C., while those for Mr K. G. Hall were Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., Messrs F. M. Harkness and J. McCaw officiating in the rostrum. Prices up to 105 guineas were paid, the first 26 cows in Mr G. D. Hall’s entry selling at an average of 49 guineas. The top price of 105 guineas was given by( Mr R. C. J. Hunter, of Katikati, for the yearling bull, Pinedale Matchless Duke, an entry of’Mr K. G. Hall. Another yearling bull from the same vendor in Pinedale Rennies Duke, by the same sire as the previous entry, was knocked down to Mr R. Hooper, Manawatu, at 100 guineas. The top price of 97i guineas for cows was paid by the Kereone breeder, Mr R. D. Cochrane, for the aged cow, Horotiu Cherry, H.C., by the champion sire, Pine Farm Gem 4th. From 40 to 65 guineas was given for other good entries with the rest selling from 18 to 35 guineas.
