SIXTY PER CENT FROM; PRESENT WAR The final figures for the year ended 31st March, 1946, show that the total membership of the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association is now 115,130, of which total 69,624, or 60.47 per cent, served in the recent war. There are now 99 branches of the Association in New Zealand, split between the two islands as follows: North: 78 associations and 76,781 members; South: 21 associations and 38,349 members. The increase in total membership for the Dominion over that of last year is 53.25 per cent, and the proportions are 60.47 from! the recent war and 41.84 from the previous war.
Membership of Te Awamutu branch is given as 765, 463 of which are from the second world war.
