Manure Supplies
In connection with a decision of the Tauranga branch of the Farmers’ Union requesting that a fertiliser factory be set up in the Bay of Plenty, the president, at a later meeting of the branch outlined the various total tonnages of superphosphate brought into the district each year. It w s shown that during the year 1940-41, which was the last year before the rationing of manures was started, 33,845 tons of superphosphate were carried into the Waihi-Taneatua area by rail. About 12,000 tons of lin e had also been taken into the Bay of Plenty.
