JERSEY BULLS
NATIONAL SHOW TE AWAMUTU SUCCESSES There -was an impressive parade of Jeisey bulls at the 23rd National Jersey show ahd sale, which commenced at the Claudelands show grounds on . Wednesday. The quality ,of the entries was outstanding- and compared favourably with previous years. The judging was watched by a large attendance, representative of practically every district in the Dominion. The judges were Messrs L. A. Higgins, of Nelson, W. H. Miers, of Rototuna, and C. S. Leggett, of North Auckland. The major awards were:— Junior champion, Mr H. V. Benge’s, Feilding, Ruapehu Fargo (Highneld Fargo—Ruapehu Marion) 1; reserve, Mr G. H. Costar’s, Tauranga, Wattle Brae Toby (Wattle Brae Sunflame— Wattle Brae Myra) 2. Senior champion, D. and J. S. Pattison’s, Kihikihi. Te Kara Beau Vite (Tararua Segundo—Squire’s Golden Beauty; reserve, Mrs E.*»K. Miers’. Rototuna, Iris Bomber (Night Raid of Tralee—lrish Rosette). Grand champion, Te Kara Beau Vite; reserve, Iris Bomber. Following are the class results:— Junior Yearlings.—First section: Mr H. V. Benge, Feilding, 1; Mr W. S. McEwen, Pukeroro, Hamilton, 2 and 3. Second section: Mr G. H. Costar, Tauranga, 1; Messrs Rose Bros., Spring- Creek, Marlborough, 2; Mr H. R’. Snell, Ngung-uru, 3. Third section; Mr H. V. Benge, Aorangi, Feilding, 1; Mr D. O. Murray, Cambridge, 2; Mr Reg. Catchpole, Ohaupo, 3. Two-year-olds.—First section: J. G. PviHar and Sons, Winton, Southland, 1; Mr H. V. Benge, Aorangi, Feilding, 2; Miss M. J. Larsen, Cheltenham, Feilding, 3.- Second section: Mrs E. K. Miers, Rototuna, Hamilton, 1; Mr "W. S. McEwen, Pukeroro, Hamilton, 2; Mr N. M. Colson, Waitoa, 3. Three-year-olds and over.—D. and J. S. Pattison’ Kihikihi, 1; Mr J. F. M. Wanhill, Tuhikaramea, 2; Messrs H. H. Sutton and Sons, Te Awamutu, There was another good ’display of Jersey bulls for the second day held yesterday. There was good competition in the various classes, particularlv in the yearling section. Altogether there were 107 entries in yesterday morning’s show. Finewoods Standard Cid, entered by Messrs W. J. Olley and Son, Gisborne, won the senior championship and became the grand champion of the 23rd National Jersey Show and Sale at Hamilton yesterday. Mr R. A. Atkins’ (Gisborne) Quintette’s Oxford Again was reserve champion. Thg. junior champion was Mr J. G. Holmes’ (Te Awamutu) H. O. Blonde’s Cheerio and the junior reserve champion was Maida’s Martial Aim, entered by Mr Truby King, New Plymouth.
