JUNIOR RED CROSS
HELP FOR BOMBED CHILDREN PRAISE FOR WAIKATO CENTRE The junior section of the Waikato Centre, New Zealand Red Cross Society, has been anxious to send food supplies to the bombed children of England, states the latest bulletin of the Society, but this presented a number of difficulties. The manufacturers and the shipping companies were most helpful, however, and arrangements have been completed. Malted milk, jam, and barley sugar to the value of £lOO have been purchased at less than wholesale prices, and are being stored and despatched to England free of charge. A fund has been opened called “The Children’s Food Relief Fund,” and contributions are coming steadily to hand from the Junior Circles. Miss Small, in her report on junior activities after her North Island tour, said of the Waikato effort: “I felt that the Waikato had its organisation very right. The sub-centre organisers or representatives of each subcentre were doing great work. It was most pleasing to see the very great interest of all sub-centres. Most intensive work has been done by the Centre executive and Centre organisations, with the valued assistance of the Centre secretary.”
