PARAWERA BRANCH The annual meeting of the Parawera Red Cross branch was held in the Parawera school on 3rd April, 1943. Airs E. H. Houston was re-elected president and Mrs Lyell Kay was reelected secretary, with Mrs Murdoch as assistant-secretary. Mrs Houston -.nd Mrs Kay were presented with beautiful shoulder sprays from the inoinbt rs. Mrs Houston also present- . .1 lovely sprays to the vice-presidents, committee ladies and secretary, and < engratulated them on their good work during the year. The balance-sheet was read and -douled a. a wonderful effort on behalf of monibers, and Mrs Houston : jf.otl all for their support. A. report of the. sewing and knitting was also read. i'rinig th. afternoon the following competitions were won:—Sponge cake, Mrs Dick-Kay; knitted article, Mrs G. Walker; article of sewing, Miss Ngaere Kay; pair of towels, Mrs D. Harding; table cloth, Mrs 11. 0. Kay. A sales cable yielded £l7 ss, and with subscriptions of £42 15s, a total of £6O was handed in for the Blinded Soldiers’ Fund.
