OBITUARY
CYRIL GEORGE GOULSBRO Racing men in many places would learn with regret of the death of Mr Cyril George Goulsbro, which occurred at Te Awamutu on Saturday morning. Thirty-two years of age, he was rated as one of the Dominion’s best jockeys, and his passing is a loss to the sport. Deceased was a son of Mr and Mrs G. Goulsbro, of Te Rapa, and he is survived by his wife, three brothers, and one sister. The funeral at Te Awamutu this morning was very largely attended, no less than eighty-six floral tributes being received from all parts of New Zealand. The pall-bearers at the cemetery were Messrs R. E. Horne. A. Murray, J. Williamson, H. Long, J. McFarlane, and G. Cameron. The Rev. Father Colgan officiated at the grave-side. Prior to the interment a Requiem Mass was celebrated at the Catholic Church. In a striking address Father Colgan referred to the character and manly qualities of the deceased, who had, by his perseverance and honesty, made a name for himself in the racing world. He tendered sympathy to his wife and relatives.
