97 YEARS OLD

RESIDENT OF GREY LYNN Vivid memories of the Moari war in the Waikato are retained by Mrs T. W. Bell, of 30 Francis Street, Grey Lynn, who celebrated her 97th birthday on Monday. Born in Sydney on March 29, 1846, Mrs Bell came with her parents to reside in Te Awamutu when a young girl. After her marriage she lived in many parts of the Dominion. She is very fond of travelling and has spent most of her time until this year visiting relative in the North and South Islands.

Very good health is enjoyed by Mrs Bell and she rarely uses glasses. She assists with the housework and still sews and crochets. Five generations of her family are residing in Auckland. There are eigth children living, 36 grandchildren, 69 great-grand-children and seven great-great-grand-children. Her husband died 32 years ago.
