HERD TESTING
RETURNS OF FEBRUARY DROP IN PRODUCTION The 74,031 cows, in 1381 herds, in the Auckland Herd Improvement Association, averaged 522 lb of milk, with a 5.11 test and 26.7 lb fat, during February, 1943. For the corresponding month last year the 99,826 cows in 1904 herds averaged 564 lb milk, with a 5.02 test and 28.3 lb fat. Returns for- local district groups are as follows:
Hairini—Nine herds (625 cows), when tested gave a group average of 5551 b milk with a 5.07 test, and yielded 28 lb fat. The highest herd (50 cows) yielded 33 lb fat. Kaipaki—Twenty-one herds (1298 cows), group average 551 lb milk, 4.93 test, 27 lb fat, highest (43 cows) 38 lb fat. Kihikihi—Twenty-six herds (1548
cows), group average 531 lb milk, 5.09 test, 27 lb fat. The highest herd (42 cows) yielded 38 lb fat. Otorohanga Seventy-six herds (4298 cows), group average 574 lb milk, 5.03 test, 29 lb fat. The highest held (31 cows) yielded 44 lb fat. Paterangi—Thirteen herds (861 cows), 472 lb milk, 5.30 test, 25 lb fat. The two highest herds averaged 29 lb fat. Putaruru—Twenty-four herds (1536 cows), 582 lb milk, 4.99 test, 29 lb fat. The highest herd (86 cows), yielded 40 lb fat. Roto-o-rangi-Hora Hora —Twentyfour herds (1171 cows), 536 lb milk. 5.40 test, 29 lb fat. The highest herd (34 cows) yielded ’45 lb fat.
Te Awamutu—Twenty-two herds (1164 cows), 579 lb milk, 4.88 test, 28 lbs fat. The highest herd (38 cows) yielded 36 lb fat. Te Kawa—Twenty herds (1225 cows), 556 lb milk, 5.29 test, 29 lb fat. The highest herd |67 eows) yielded 39 lb fat. .
